canadian projects

i love me a good craft.
this is because my momma is one of the best crafter's ever.
so, i got my need for a fabric stash and modge podge straight from her.
i have also become quite an organizer, especially of other peoples stuff.
so, naturally i helped my mother organize her quilting and crafting supplies.
we forgot to take before pictures but here is the after.
(really blurry but you get the picture.)

besides organizing i made these dresses for the girls.
favorite colors.
don't judge us.
we went alittle over board on the diaper changing pads and matching wipes cases.
we just couldn't stop.
they did turn out pretty cute!

the kids had a blast and were quite popular because
they had some buckets and watering cans.

it was surreal to see MY children playing were i played as a child.
how am i the mom?
tons of memories of a great childhood.
i hope i am doing that for my kids.

because nana and papa spoiled us rotten while we were there!
olivia with just a small amount of nana and papa's strawberries this year.
the strawberries have taken over almost their whole garden.

the old man river

sunday night walk.
we decided to go down to the old man river bottom to get eaten by alive by mosquitos
walk around and throw rocks in the river.

here is the beautiful bridge.

finding some good rocks.

the train we passed on the way there.
it was perfect timing and so awesome to get to see a train go by!
it was strangly green for july.
the area had recently had some flooding and it was still green and wet!
mallory had to leave her make it the river bottom and went potty in the bushes.
good mother-daughter bonding, wouldn't you say?
olivia mid-throw.

more settler's days

settlers day had a petting zoo for the kids.

we had to go back about 3 times for olivia to get here bunny fix.
they are really cute though.
kale even held a bunny with nana's help.
right after i took the picture nana let go of the bunny and it fell right to the ground.
good thing they weren't wild!

the girls got their nails painted.

got to make cookies.

got their hair colored.

olivia always looks so happy, huh?
there was also face painting but nana stood in line for us for an hour and didn't move.
so, we decided to just go home.
especially because by that time, papa had already taken kale back to the
petting zoo and then walked several blocks to get kale a balloon.
we went to pick papa and kale up on the way home and kale had fallen asleep on papas shoulder.
it was one of the sweetest thing i have ever since.
TOO CUTE!
here are the girls climbing the tree sally and i played in when we were little.
i guess we must have been older because they didn't think it was very fun.

candy parade and a weirdo with braids

we picked the perfect weekend to go to coaldale, it ended up being
 settlers day!
coaldale has a candy parade and all sorts of fun stuff.

here we are at the candy parade.
it's just down the street from nana and papa's house.
the kids were in heaven.

the loot!
we got TONS!
the girls were so excited and had to sample lots of the candy while at the parade.

crazy kale!

pretty braids.
olivia wanted me to take a picture.

olivia was doing ballet on the railing down the stairs.
it was very inventive.
isn't she cute!

birds of prey?

i lived in coaldale for ever while the birds of prey center was open, never once did i go.
i didn't know how birds of prey would be cool, at all.
well, i was totally wrong.
we went with papa and it was so cool!

this is an eagle?  i forget.  it was really weird to see the birds
tied down.  the workers said it was the best way to keep them because
it let them us their wings.
they could almost fly.
we saw because one white owl really wanted to come and eat kale!
this was one of the cooooolest things EVER!
i got to hold this great horned owl!  SWEET!
it was just a bit scary but obvisously i was brave enough
to be a good example because olivia even held a little burrowing owl!
olivia loves this picture because you can see the owls wings.
liv was so brave!  i was so proud of her!

bald eagle!  go america!
cutest picture!!  awwww!
i'm telling ya, i just can't get enough of this boy with his grandpas!

another eagle.
we got to feed the ducks.  mallory, as usual was scared to death.
but with a little help from mom and papa she was able to sit and see the ducks.
kale fed them too.  he couldn't get enough of the birds and went chasing after them.

mallory and her super excited look!
the monsters!
funny story.
olivia had her bag of duck food and the ducks came after her trying to get some.
the bag fell on the ground, olivia was scared and she let the ducks have it.
well, i wasn't going to let our $1 go to waste.
so i reached down, shooed the ducks away, even pushing a couple and got the bag back.
then i thought, what the heck did i just do.
it was kind of funny.  if i would have thought about it i probably wouldn't have done it.
since i was getting the food back for olivia, it didn't even think and just went into action.

right before we were leaving the worker girl had the owls out again.
olivia wanted to hold it again.
doesn't she look like she's having fun??
the whole group!
we had such a great time!
great idea papa!
